THS Homecoming News

Buccaneer Pride

First THS Buccaneer Pride Award to honor

a Tonkawa graduate who lives in Tonkawa and is active in the community.

Charles Conaghan receives the letter of recognition from Alumni President David Fruits.  Charles has been an active volunteer in in the community, supporting the town, schools and churches his entire adult life.  He will be recognized during Homecoming.

The Alumni Association is celebrating our 66th year, and we have a
great team! We are excited about completing our Event Center project last year.
Our project for this year is the Weight Room Project. THS has never had new
weight room equipment. The Alumni Association has partnered with THS Public Schools
and current booster organizations for this project. The goal is $25,000. The THS Alumni
Association is having a recognition plaque created that will bear the names of people who
donate $1,000, $500 and $100 to this project. The recognition plaque will be displayed
in the Event Center and have a GOLD section for ten people who donate $1000.00, a
SILVER section for twenty people who donate $500.00 and a BRONZE section for fifty
people who donate $100.00. People who have previously donated to this project, in these
amounts, will be included on the plaque. LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR OUR BOY
Plans for an outstanding 2019 Homecoming celebration are on the horizon.
Activities include class reunions, an alumni meeting, coffees, a parade, the football game,
re-connecting with classmates and visiting your hometown! Be sure to make your plans
now for the September 20th Homecoming weekend.
We are trying something new this year. We aren’t having a Distinguished
Alumni Banquet. We are having an Alumni Mixer on Friday, September 20th, at the
Tonkawa Casino West from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm in the conference rooms. There will be a
cash bar and snacks. We will also be presenting the Buc Pride Award at 4:00 pm during the mixer.
Your Alumni support is what keeps our organization vital and thriving. All of
your donations and Lifetime Memberships are very much appreciated. Please keep them
coming! (Lifetime member’s names are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the Commons
Area of the high school). Remember, our purpose is to keep our traditions alive, continue
to make our THS the best it can be for future generations, and encourage students to
always be proud to be a BUCCANEER! Hope to see you in September!
